You are right, the RAM never goes back down. This way the system could be lighter on the RAM. I you have 8 Gb RAM, try to set your Garritan parameters to 4Gb max allocated and 64kb preload. The way the Garritan CFX manages the RAM is strange, at least uncommon. The former will certainly help the latency. Maybe add 4 GB more memory to the computer.īut first try the Focusrite bit and the CFX standalone. your 4 GB is a bit on the slim side.īut moving to Windows 7 will accomplish nothing.

No Aria player.Ĭan you try that? I've never had memory problems in that mode.Īs for installed memory. I use the Garritan CFX, but I use it standalone.

Tell the piano software to use the Focusrite audio device instead of the computer's built-in audio.Īs for the piano software. So connect the Focusrite to the computer using a USB cable. It will give better quality sound, and lower latency. one that is better than the computer's built-in audio. The Focusrite's main job here is to serve as an audio device. Just connect the piano USB-to-host to a USB port on the computer. MIDI DIN connections are becoming obsolete. To your question: Do I need another audio interface that has midi input? I searched some forums on that but couldn't find the exact answer.

Thanks for all your help!Īlso, if anyone knows how to deal with the pedaling issues (sometimes it cuts out abruptly in very delicate pedaling, classical, professional level. Sorry, but it's really frustrating having such great samples but not having the technical knowledge to deal with the RAM and latency issues. That has 1.3 GHz Intel Core i5 processor and 4GB 1600Mhz DDR# memory.

I have also tried using the Lite version on my Macbook Air, but it's not really any better and I don't have enough space to run the full version on the Mac.

So I really don't know what I need to do to fix a) the RAM issue and b) the latency issue.ĭo I need another audio interface that has midi input?Īre there specific audio drivers I can download or purchase that can make it better?Īm I just not hooking the focusrite up properly through the Aria player preferences? So I plugged the USB from the keyboard into the computer directly as before leaving the audio cables and focusrite connected to the keyboard, but this made the focusrite useless and it was the same as not having it at all. I did customer support with Focusrite and they said the model did not have Midi capability as there was no Midi input in the Aria player preferences. However, when I played the piano, I could only the get original keyboard sounds (not virtual plugin) to play through the interface. When I played the virtual keyboard on the screen with my mouse it was a much improved sound. I plugged the audio cables into my Yamaha P120 and Focusrite and the Focusrite into the computer by USB. I bought a Focusrite 2i2 audio interface at the suggestion of another. I set buffering to the lowest possible level which makes it not as bad, but I feel the sound quality is totally different when playing live. I tried downloading different audio drivers like ASIO4ALL which makes a little better but not really usable. It also, makes it hard to record high quality because of latency. It sounds fine on the recording but prevents the virtual keyboard from being used live. Second, I was getting latency to the point I couldn't really listen to myself play. When I play a note the RAM goes up and never goes back down. Effectively, I can't play more than 5 minutes. I have to shut the program down to get the RAM back down. I have the full CFX installed on Windows 10, 3.10 Ghz, 8GB RAM. First, after I play in the Garritan Aria player for five minutes or play any complex classical music, all of RAM gets used up and I get extremely loud noises that come out and breaks in the sound.
